World Of Outlaws Tonight At Lernerville For Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup

SARVER, PA (Pittsburgh Racing Now) – The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series takes to the dirt tonight at Lernerville Speedway for the $25,000 Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.

There have been 16-different winners in the World of Outlaws (WoO) so far this season in 41-events.

Kyle Larson, who drives for Pittsburgh’s Chip Ganassi in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, is the defending winner of the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.  Larson has competed in 7-WoO events this season and has 2-wins, 4-Top 5’s and 5-Top 10’s.

Kasey Kahne Racing’s Brad Sweet finished second to Larson last year and comes into this year’s race as the driver with the most wins this year (11), the most laps led and the most podium finishes.  Sweet also took the checkered flag at Lernerville last September and is coming off his second consecutive victory at the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway this past Saturday night.

Donny Schatz finished third at The Action Track last year after charging from ninth-place and sits 20-points behind Sweet in the series points standings with 6-wins, 26-Top 5’s and 37-Top 10’s.

David Gravel, of Watertown, CT, sits fourth in the series point standings on the strength of 4-wins, 23-Top 5’s and 32-Top 10’s and has two previous wins at Lernerville (2016 & 2017).

Local favorite Tim Shaffer, an Aliquippa native and four-time All-Start Champion, comes into tonight’s race off of a 9th place finish at the Kings Royal at Eldora. Shaffer, the “Steel City Outlaw” is a 2-time winner of the Don Martin Silver Cup.  Shaffer has 1-win, 5-Top 5’s and 8-Top 10’s in 16-WoO events this season.

Lernerville regular Sye Lynch (pictured above) finished 21stat the Kings Royal Saturday night at Eldora after setting the fastest qualifying time at 13.019-seconds.  Lynch is looking for his first victory in the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup.
